Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Personal Trainer, has been helping guide others out of pain and into better health for over 10 years. 

Chronic pain can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially without a road map and no end in sight. Having healed his own scoliosis after decades of constant pain throughout his body, Michael can empathize! He is equipped with a wide range of modalities allowing sessions to be tailored to the needs of each individual’s issues.

Bodywork

The most common response to Michael’s Bodywork is a feeling of lightness. Michael prides himself on being able to accommodate to the full spectrum of sensitivity and intensity preferences. If you need more or less, just ask! 

Myofascial Release- The body moves slower than the mind, therefore sometimes we need to slow down to access the soft tissue of the body. Expect deep, slow work that will open up long lasting postural changes and new feelings of openness in the body. This technique will invite a deep sense of calm and lightness, relieving chronic pain in the process.

Neuromuscular Therapy- Also known as trigger point therapy, this deeply penetrating style gets to the deepest layers of the soft tissue. Although it can be challenging at times, it is never meant to be painful. This is modality is very useful for breaking up adhesions in the body.

Massage- This style incorporates faster, lighter strokes. This includes muscle stripping and classical Swedish massage techniques. This modality will invite a deep relaxation and a new feeling of connection with the body.

Assisted Stretching- Including passive and active forms of assisted stretching, this modality will open up range of motion and contribute to myofascial release. 

Manual Lymphatic Drainage- When you’ve tried it all and your chronic inflammation and pain just won’t go away, we look to the Lymphatic System. This is the sewage system of the body and when it is backed up, the body never gets a real chance to heal itself. Be aware that you may feel sluggish afterwards, but over time you will feel a renewal of energy as your body catches up to its new normal. Please make sure to be well hydrated for these sessions, and if possible eat lighter the day of the session.

Bodywork will be fully clothed to allow for comfortable range of motion throughout the various techniques that Mike employs. Please stay well hydrated before and after you receive Bodywork!

Corrective Exercise

Strength Training- Oftentimes chronic pain is due to certain muscles being overworked and inflamed, while the correct muscles for the job are inactive. In this modality, you will learn how to correct this. Employing body weight exercises, Michael will teach you how to make gravity your friend and teacher. 

Postural Instruction- You will receive guidance on how to relax into the strength of a properly aligned body. Every body is unique, but there are certain structural foundations that must be in place to live a pain free life. 

Somatic Exercise- Oftentimes we are unaware of how disconnected we have become with our body. To learn to help yourself out of pain, you must learn to listen to what your body is telling you. You have to heal it to feel it!

Breath Instruction- Much of our chronic pain is rooted in our breath being restricted. Learn how to open the body and breath properly, allowing every system in the body to function better. 

Self Care Guidance- Ultimately, Michael’s wish is that Corrective Exercise empowers you to take what you learn and use it throughout your day. After learning techniques tailored to your specific issues, whenever you are in pain, you will be equipped with techniques to address and improve your situation immediately.
