Adjustments and Manipulation

chiropractic adjustment

A chiropractic adjustment, also known as chiropractic manipulation, manual manipulation, or spinal manipulation, is the primary chiropractic treatment for back pain.

Spinal manipulation relieves pressure on joints, reduces inflammation, and improves nerve function. This treatment has been tested throughout much of human history and can even be traced all the way back to the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates in 1500 B.C. Today, spinal manipulation is used to treat allergies, menstrual cramps, headaches, and more.

How Does Spinal Manipulation Work?

Out of place vertebrae affect many of the body’s systems, including the muscular, nervous, immune, and skeletal systems. The resulting pain and discomfort can also cause a decline in mental health. As such, it is important to remedy any out of place vertebrae as soon as possible.

There are over 100 types of adjustment techniques used by chiropractors throughout the world. Some of these treatments involve force and twisting while others are more gentle. These techniques are intended to restore or enhance joint function, reduce pain, and resolve joint inflammation.

Spinal adjustment and manipulation are excellent ways to alleviate pain and discomfort and promote a healthier lifestyle.

Active Release Technique (ART)

ART is a soft tissue management system utilized in chiropractic care to treat pain, discomfort, and other issues related to muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. It involves the application of targeted pressure alongside specific patient movements. After identifying areas of pain and/or discomfort, the practitioner manually manipulates the affected soft tissues while the patient actively moves the affected area. This combination helps break up adhesions and scar tissue, restoring normal function and relieving pain.

Some key benefits of ART include improved flexibility, increased range of motion, and general pain reduction.

ART can be beneficial in the treatment of many conditions, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, and various types of repetitive strain injuries.
